《高级电磁场―专题》课程
主要讲授《高级电磁场理论》中的几个专题:如时变电磁场、微波与光电子学中波导、天线概论、光电子学概论。目的对高等电磁场中一些问题展开讨论,引导学生走向学术的前沿,激发学生的兴趣,增加互动教学环节。
邀请诺丁汉大学电子系系主任Trevor Mark BENSON(本森)教授,发表论文200多篇期刊论文,是多个国际学术会议执行副主席。同时,他还热衷于教学,给我们作示范性的教学。
听课对象:
1、给预期准备出国留学以及学有余力的部分同学(大三、大四,也欢迎大二同学参加),感受国外教授的授课风格,互动教学方法,进一步学习电磁场从经典到前沿。让国际学术交流惠及本科教学。
2、给青年教师一个示范,让部分青年教师全程参与,体验双语教学、启发式教学。引导青年教师对国外教学的跟踪与研究。

1996至今:教授,英国诺丁汉大学,电气与电子工程系
2003至今:副主任,乔治格林电磁研究中心

Proposed Electromagnetics Module for High-Level Undergraduates at BUAA.
Professor Trevor Benson, FREng.
My aim in teaching this material is to give students a grounding in the fundamentals of electromagnetic phenomena and how practical applications derive from a few basic ideas.
I will start from basic principles (but not as basic as you may expect in a physics module)and build up a systematic framework on which all practical applications (microwaves,mobile phones, photonics, electrical machines etc) rest. I will give a flavour of some of my present personal research activity and some of the challenges faced.
1. Introduction
Introduction to electromagnetics and the activities of the George Green Institute for
Electromagnetics Research: the electromagnetic spectrum, Electromagnetic
Compatibility, photonics, multi-disciplinary applications.
Revision of some basic electric and magnetic field concepts, vector representation of
fields.
2. Time-Varying EM Fields
Maxwell’s equations, wave propagation, power flow in electromagnetic waves,
3. Waveguide and resonator systems in microwaves and photonics:
Rectangular metal waveguides, waveguide dispersion, some waveguides for photonics. Introduction to cavity resonators.
4. Introduction to Antennas
Huygen’s treatment of an aperture radiator, wire antenna characteristics, the Friis
formula, radar equation, antenna arrays
5. Selected Topics in Photonics.
Interferometric devices.
The role and processes of Computational Electromagnetics in photonics.
Some emerging technologies.
